Common Ground Outdoor Adventures will be auctioning off many prizes at benefit gala
LOGAN, Utah — Common Ground Outdoor Adventures is hosting its annual benefit gala called “Adventure Awaits” on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Logan-Cache Airport. This event includes a social hour, dinner, silent auction and an evening program.
“It’s going to be a great event this year,” said Alex Ristorcelli, who is the program director for Common Ground. “We are really lucky to be auctioning some really great prizes this year. You could win an elliptical, airplane tickets, Salomon Skis, gift cards to Angie's or two paragliding flights in Jackson.”
“Adventure Awaits” will be an evening in support of Common Ground’s mission as a nonprofit organization to provide life-enhancing outdoor opportunities to people with disabilities. TV personality Casey Scott will be hosting the event along with Jette Youngblood, who is the event chair, and Jocelyn and Justin Hamilton, who are honorary chair members. The title sponsor for this gala will be Youngblood Real Estate.
Common Ground is grateful for the continuing support it receives from the community in Cache Valley. Proceeds from events like “Adventure Awaits” allow youth and adults with disabilities to participate in a variety of outdoor activities with peers. Since its founding in 1993, Common Ground has served approximately 2,400 people with disabilities annually by providing adaptive equipment and peer support for a variety of outdoor activities. With fun and memorable experiences, Common Ground hopes to reduce stereotypes, raise awareness and help foster self-confidence.
“Common Ground gives people with disabilities the opportunity to do things they would not otherwise be able to do,” Ristorcelli said. “We want to get people out of their house and into the outdoors.”
